Charlie Overbey - (Set time: 9:00 PM)
Charlie Overbey
Immediately, this well-traveled troubadour gets our attention with a gruff vocal style whose undertone says, “I’ve lived it, I’ve been there.” And Overbey has the songcraft to turn his anecdotes and observations into engaging songs that are by turns melodically hooky and lyrically genuine. “The California Kid” is a mid-tempo autobiographical tune wherein the artist presents his warts-and-all resume. The laid-back “I’m In Love Again” is our favorite, a song about the mystery of attraction––a hopeless romantic’s willingness to repeat the same wonderful mistakes. We feel this song particularly could draw interest from a marquee performer who could make it his own.

Rachel Dean + Tim Gray
Rachel Dean and Tim Gray's paths were interwoven for nearly a decade before formerly meeting in May of 2015 when they booked a show together at Pappy and Harriets in Pioneertown, CA. Shortly thereafter they started playing a number of shows in Orange County and Los Angeles, a tour up the coast of California and Oregon at boutique hotels, as well as a Halloween show at a FolkYeah promoted festival called Vertigo Fest featuring Roky Erickson, the Allah-Las, Vetiver, and others. After an unexpected six month stint in New Orleans that began in November of 2015, they returned to the California desert.

Before they got together, Tim was performing and releasing music independently as a solo artist and with his bands, Tim Gray and The Delusions and Orange County mainstays, Charles Mansion. Rachel had her band, War Children and also played under her name, releasing an album, Indian Summer, on Horton Records. The album was produced by Neal Casal and Rob Campanella and boasts an amazing backing band including Neal Casal (Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Chris Robinson Brotherhood), Adam MacDougall (Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Black Crowes) , Richard Gowen (Vetiver, Nick Waterhouse) with special appearances by Miranda Lee Richards, Jon Graboff, Nelson Bragg. She also spent every Sunday fronting Pappy and Harriet's legendary Sunday band, The Hot Fudge Sunday from 2012 to November of 2015, playing every week with Victoria Williams and Bobby Furgo (Leonard Cohen) as well as bringing in friends: Robert Bean (BRMC), Jonathan Wilson, Christian Wargo (Fleet Foxes), Band of Horses, and Tim Gray to guest on stage.

The two are currently living in Joshua Tree working on material for a new release.
