Spanky is a singer/songwriter from Pismo Beach, CA who has performed around the central coast for the past 25 years. His style is Americana/California folk. His rich, resonate vocal sounds flow over a foundation of acoustic instrumentation, consisting of 6- and 12-string guitar, banjo, and ukulele. His songs tell the stories of good times and friendships in a small California beach town, travels through the west, and other heartfelt journies. His live performances are marked with alacrity and sincerity, and have resulted in a dedicated fan base that has followed him through the evolution of his distinctive musical style.

Starting out with a Grateful Dead cover band, Spanky became well known as the lead member of “the local party band” of San Luis Obispo in the late 1980s. Through various permutations of the band, raising kids, and helping to run a construction company, he continued to perform regularly as a solo artist and with some of the original members playing bluegrass-infused versions of the Dead and other classic favorites. Changes in the construction industry and getting the kids into adulthood has opened up the opportunity for Spanky to devote himself to his true passion. Now writing and recording his own music, he has refined his unique deep and lilting style. While he continues to perform regularly in various showcases, special events, and regular gigs around the central coast, he has found his wings and is ready to take it on the road. His mission is to make music for as many people, in as many places, as possible. Have minivan, will travel!
