MEAT PUPPETS RETURN TO THE STAGE WITH ORIGINAL DRUMMER, EXPANDED LINE-UP

For close to 40 years, legendary desert rockers the Meat Puppets have carved a unique niche for themselves with an unmistakable blend of cosmic country and and acid-tinged punk rock filtered through their own unique sensibility. Along the way they've earned the admiration of critics, fans and their peers. Now, the brothers Curt Kirkwood (guitar/vocals) and Cris Kirkwood (bass/vocals) are back with original drummer Derrick Bostrom.

Absent behind the kit for over twenty years, Bostrom rejoined the band last year for a one-off reunion show in honor of their induction into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame. The chemistry was undeniable, so in May of this year, Bostrom agreed to play with the band on an ongoing basis.

Joining the original trio are long-time second guitarist (and full-time Curt offspring) Elmo Kirkwood and Ron Stabinsky (Peter Evans Quartet, Mostly Other People Do The Killing) on keyboards.

Says Derrick, "It's so great to be to play with the band again; It feels like we picked up right where we left off."

"It's incredible how it's worked out," say Cris. "Suddenly, It's the three of us again. And when you add Elmo and Ron to the mix, the band is taking it to the next level."

The Meat Puppets might evolve but their sound is unique – you'll never mistake them for anyone else. They will never go out of style.
I See Hawks in LA
I See Hawks in LA
“The finest country rock band on the planet” – MOJO

“One of California’s unique treasures” – Dave Alvin

"To say that I See Hawks in L.A. traipse a going-their-own-way path through that old folky Americana and classic California country rock thing doesn’t quite begin to describe the sheer scope of this band’s wiiiide-open vision. They’re adding much-needed musical and lyrical complexity to the old forms, blending and stretching both the emotional and sonic terrain to thrillingly new and unfamiliar points beyond.” – John Payne, L.A. Weekly

Formed in 1999 by Rob Waller and brothers Paul and Anthony Lacques during a philosophical discussion and rock throwing session on an East Mojave desert trek, I See Hawks In L.A. first gathered on the front porch in Echo Park, Los Angeles, drank whiskey, and began writing their endless rich stream of songs.

The Hawks have garnered a fiercely loyal following around the globe, with years of U.S., UK, and Euro touring, consistently rave reviews, and a serious presence in the top 10 of the Freeform American Roots chart (#1 three times), the Americana Chart, and the Euro Americana chart (top ten four times). Their live show, whether all acoustic or hard hitting psychedelic honky tonk electric, lights up the stages from their own Highland Park perch to Stagecoach in the Coachella desert, to the Carolinas and the roots festivals of UK and Europe.

In June 2018, "Live And Never Learn," the Hawks' 8th release, featuring new drummer and vocalist/songwriter Victoria Jacobs, debuted at #1 on the FAR Chart and hit #10 on the Euro Americana chart.

5 stars, MOJO; 8 stars, UNCUT; "I See Hawks In L.A. delivers more timeless twang," L.A. Times; "Live And Never Learn is a balm for the soul," Rock & Reel UK

The Hawks are noted for their lyrical celebrations and lamentations of earth and ecosphere, odes to the endless highway, and wry social commentary. Rob Waller's soulful baritone is augmented by rich three part harmonies, and traditional yet very experimental electric and steel guitar textures from Paul Lacques, layered with fiddle, dobro and accordion. Bassist and vocalist Paul Marshall (Strawberry Alarm Clock, Wanda Jackson), brings a deep understanding of Americana from bluegrass to psychedelic country rock, to the Hawks landscape.

Past and auxiliary Hawks include L.A.'s finest: David Jackson (Dillard & Clark, John Denver), Shawn Nourse (Dwight Yoakam, Mike Stinson), Gabe Witcher, Chris Hillman, Rick Shea, John McDuffie, and Brantley Kearns.
